Arriving and staying at San Pedro de Atacama

90.4km

We didn't find anything very conclusive for lunch in the small kiosk of Socaire. So we've to reach Toconao to eat, 50 kilometers away. Fortunately, the first twenty kilometers are downhill. The view of the volcanoes that serve as the border between Chile and Bolivia is beautiful.

In Toconao, nothing really great either, but we find something to refuel after all. Water is no longer drinkable because of the rain. We use Micropures pills for the first time of our trip. We still have 37 kilometers to reach San Pedro, and they pass quite quickly: side by side, we tchat, no wind and it's pretty flat.

San Pedro is a very touristy town, there is an impressive number of hostal, camping ... But we are in high season and many are full. We are starting a tour to find a place to stay. We end up in a good hostal, very clean, in the center, and with a good wifi. In short, perfect to rest.

During our three days of rest, the program: blog writing, knitting and geekage (I'll let you guess which is for whom), and especially rest. This crossing of the Andes was very trying, and we leave for the South Lipez, which looks much worse. We'll put into practice the old adage "No news, good news", because it'll surely take us ten days to reach Uyuni in Bolivia, and have internet. See you !
