The Quilmes ruins

After bringing back Amasagua, the dog of our hosts Warmshower, who had decided to follow us, we are on our way to Cafayate. On recommendation of our hosts we'll visit the ruins of the indigenous village Quilmes, a few kilometers from our road. The path that leads to it is a little sandy but we are not disappointed with the ruins. The village of the Quilmes natives was built on the mountain side, in terraces. There are only short walls of what was before the buildings but it's still very pretty. All in the middle of giant cacti.

After visiting the ruins, we take the road towards Cafayate. On the way we meet a German couple by bike, it's the opportunity to discuss the prices of campsites, the mishaps of each others and the beautiful things to see in the area. We arrive in Cafayate at the end of the afternoon where we settle in a campsite at the entrance of the city. Tonight it's sausages on barbecue accompanied by polenta.
