Punta Arenas, already

This morning the wind is strong when we wake up, usually it gets up around 10am. It blows full west, it's a head wind for us. We progress very slowly (8kph) and are hungry after only a few kilometres despite our good dinner the day before. Morale is low and we decide to hitch a ride to reach Porvenir. We start by emptying our meagre stock of provisions before hailing a minivan and its two occupants.

The two friends are adorable, they offer us to load the bikes on the roof. There is a a strange smell in the vehicle, not unpleasant but impossible to guess what it is. They explain us that they carry smoked sheep meat they are crazy about. After 15km warm and sheltered from the wind in the minivan, these kind gentlemen drop us in the centre of Porvenir. We just have time to withdraw money from the bank before taking the ferry to Punta Arenas. Morale is back to the highest!

We will sleep a few nights in a very nice hostel in Punta Arenas downtown. Next destination: Puerto Natales.
