To get out of Puno we start by climbing on the hill on which the city is based. From above we have a beautiful view of the lake and the city. Once down the hill, we start a long straight line to Juliaca, another well sized city. The road isn't very interesting, flat, there is a lot of traffic but we take a new road under construction all the way to the city.
Once in Juliaca we find a small restaurant for lunch. We then leave in search of a SIM card, but it's Sunday, we cannot get one. The exit of the city is a little more sporty than the entry: the main
road which crosses the city from side to side is blocked in the middle,
all the traffic is redirected in the small parallel streets, the traffic is quite chaotic.
The afternoon is under the threat of a big cloud on our left and a strong wind aside. So we get a few drops and don't ride very straight. The traffic is also intense here, but we don't have the road under construction to avoid it. We arrive at the village of Calapuja around 15:00, but there is not much further, we decide to find where to sleep here. No luck, there is no hotel, only the priest of the village who would host, but he isn't yet at home. We wait patiently on the village square, Floriane reads while François takes care of the bicycles. The priest ends up answering and he asks us to pay to be accommodated in a dormitory without sheets and without shower, we accept even if we are surprised of the little generosity of this priest.
