Arriving to Sajama

37.6km
469.0m
153.2m

We start early from our alojamiento. It's cold at 7:00, we have to take out the gloves for the first few minutes. We start with a hill, so it warms us up and the sun is appearing. The heat is gently coming, and the Sajama is beautiful with this dawn light.

Our goal is to arrive at noon to the village of Sajama, to eat. We go around the volcano, then after a short descent, we enter the national park. After paying the entrance fee begins the ripio: 10 kilometers of sand await us. But we aren't too tired, and we're slightly carried by the wind. We don't set foot on the ground because of silting that about two or three times each, it could have been worse. We arrive at noon, and find a lunch. Everything is built for the high season, and the village seems deserted and closed. We're looking for a hotel, and finish at the Oasis hotel. We decide that the next day we're going trekking to the geysers and over two nights. We spend the afternoon preparing our trip and do nothing special, very relaxing. In the evening, we discuss with a German couple, who comes from Peru and Ecuador, we exchange some tips.
