This morning we take our time before leaving Orléans, we don't see our friend often. The road to Châteaudun isn't very interesting, we still have many cereals fields and flat country.
Not far from Chateaudun we can see some mills, one of which is still active. The city is in full preparations for a medieval festival, a pity it's in a few days. On the other hand the castle is very pretty and well preserved. We've a break in the shade of the trees of the small park at the foot of the castle, near the river.
Given our schedule, we still have to go forward a little this afternoon. After a few kilometers, in the hamlet of Vilquier, we decide to find a place to sleep. We ring at the door of a house with a large garden out of sight and away from the road. The owners are very friendly and let us camp in the bottom of the garden, near the neighboring field. We're comfortably settled in safety, the recipe for a good night's sleep.
