We must now join Ayacucho. It's a town about 500 kilometers from Chinchero. The road is paved, but has the distinction of having three "bumps" of 2000 m each. Which means that we go up, then we go down, then we go up... As the descents
are looking exhilarating, the hills are a little scary. The risk is to do too much in a day, and to exhaust ourselves for the other bumps. But hey, we leave CHinchero in good shape and well rested, physically and morally.
We've to join the road that we left in Cusco to visit the Sacred Valley,
the 3S (it crosses all Peru, we used it since the lake Titicaca). There is a little climb, then a nice descent, and then a real hill that will hold us a good part of the afternoon. We have lunch in the middle of the hill in a cevicheria to eat one of Peru's specialties, the ceviche (raw fish marinated with lemon,
onions, and other herbs), very good.
We pass the pass at 3600m, the landscape is beautiful. We arrive in a valley tighter than that of Cusco. We start the first descent of 2000 meters, it's really good. We decide to leave a little bit downhill for tomorrow, and we stop in Limatambo, after 1300m of negative elevation. We find ourselves a beautiful hostal, then a good restaurant. Definitely, we love Peru.
