There
aren't many alternatives for our day today: the hill is 1500 meters
high, and the last village is 750 meters uphill and about fifteen
kilometers. In short, settle for the village, it's a very small day, go to the
top, then down 1000m because there is nothing at the top, it's a big day.
We try to go for the big day, and we get up a little earlier than usual. We start with a small descent, then very quickly we attack the climb. We arrive at 11:00 in the village, a little too early to lunch. Even to find a take away lunch, we have to check several restaurants because they are not ready yet. We end up taking a chicharon (pork) to a lady on the side of the road. We continue to climb, then we stop to lunch at about 1000 meters altitude. The road to the pass is very calm. The mountain is deserted, rather yellow-orange, it's beautiful.
The descent isn't yet there, and we are tired, but it ends up pointing the tip of its nose. We arrive in a new valley, then to Uripa, the city we were aiming for. We ask the school then the college if they can accommodate us for one night. One of the teachers from the school takes us to his house and shows us a room with a bed. Joanes is very kind, and raises cocks, they are singing quite a lot!
We spent 7h10 on the bike. Usually, we try not to exceed six hours. We are very tired, but happy with this day.
